Haliburton Highlands Land Trust – 2021 Climate Change Project

The Haliburton Highlands Land Trust (HHLT) is excited to announce that we are the recipient of a 2021 RBC Foundation, Tech for Nature grant in the amount of $25,000.

The project will provide new research to support conservation efforts in the Highlands Corridor. This corridor stretches from Kawartha Highlands Provincial Park to Queen Elizabeth Il Wildlands Provincial Park and extends across the southern part of the County of Haliburton. HHLT recognizes this area for its rich biodiversity and high representation of wetlands and forests. HHLT owns, manages and protects two properties within this corridor.

Land Trust Discovery Days

Land Trust Discovery Days is a series of educational workshops, guided walks and presentations focused on our natural world.  This program has been generously funded by the TD Friends of the Environment (FOE) Foundation. Most events are offered by donation and are family friendly.

In 2022 HHLT will offer a chance to meet Ontario wildlife up-close at the Speaking of Wildlife presentation in March, a guided walk at Barnum Creek Nature Reserve to learn about spring wildflowers and leeks and a night-time walk to search for bats. The TD FOE grant will also fund the production of an educational activity guide for teachers and parents/caregivers to use at Barnum Creek Nature Reserve.  An illustrated guide to common moths found in Haliburton County will also be produced.
