You Too Can Be A Land Trust Star!
Calling all businesses in Haliburton County! Have you ever wondered how you can give back to your community and/or how you can help to protect the rich biodiversity of Haliburton County for future generations?
By partnering with the Haliburton Highlands Land Trust (HHLT) as a sponsor, your donation dollars would be working towards achieving both your goals and ours;
Conservation
HHLT is a not-for-profit environmental charity established in 2005. At the core of our work is the conservation of the lands and waters that we both rely on as part of a healthy, thriving community. HHLT currently owns, protects and maintains 5 properties totaling 1,200 acres with another 100 acres protected through a conservation easement agreement. We are in the process of acquiring more lands and urgently need funding to carry these projects forward.
Tourism and Recreation
We believe that a healthy environment is profoundly connected to a healthy economy and human well-being. We value working with others to protect natural spaces like our Barnum Creek Nature Reserve and Dahl Forest, where people can be one with nature and enjoy the mental and physical health benefits that walking, hiking and cross-country skiing can bring. We need your continued support to maintain and expand these trails.
Research and Education
HHLT holds some of the best data available on Species at Risk and wetlands. Our educational programs are open to the public (usually at no cost) and aim to educate the public about good stewardship practices on their own properties, how they can help Species at Risk and how our wetlands and natural corridors like the Highlands Corridor, help to mitigate the adverse effects of climate change. We need your donation to fund our research and educational programs.
Highlands Corridor
HHLT is actively working with local and provincial governments on a project to designate parts of the crown land between the Queen Elizabeth Wetlands Provincial Park and the Kawartha Lakes Provincial Park as a Conservation Reserve. This step would preserve important wetlands as well as species at risk in these habitats. We need your help to continue our work with all levels of government.
