Haliburton Highlands Corridor
This video introduces the Highlands Corridor. The Highlands Corridor covers over 100,000 hectares of unceded public and private land, rich with wetlands, forests, wildlife communities, species at risk, and deep carbon deposits. It extends across southern Haliburton and northern Peterborough counties, within the territory of the Williams Treaties First Nations.
HHLT Conservation in Action
Learn how the Haliburton Highlands Land Trust promotes conservation in Haliburton County by acquiring and managing properties. Members of the HHLT board discuss the activities of HHLT to preserve our environment, provide outdoor experiences for residents and educate the community on conservation issues. Birds of a Feather Concert Featuring Drew Allen
On August 22nd, 2022, HHLT threw a fundraising concert party in a large tent at Abbey Gardens. Local pianist, Drew Allen, did a wonderful job of entertaining the jam-packed crowd.

Dr Steve Paiero on Ladybeetles
Dr. Steve Paiero, curator of the insect collection at the University of Guelph, was recorded doing a Zoom presentation on ladybeetles for the Haliburton Highlands Land Trust on June 2, 2022. He discusses the history of the species, species at risk and how to differentiate species in the field.
Wonder in the Woods

Climate Action – Wetlands
This video, produced by the Ontario Land Trust Alliance (OLTA) highlights the nature-based benefits that land trusts provide. In 2020, the Haliburton Highlands Land Trust, with funding from Environment Canada & Climate Change (Climate Action Fund) and RBC Foundation (Tech for Nature) grants, mapped and evaluated two large wetland complexes in the County of Haliburton. Both were approved by the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources & Forestry as Provincially Significant Wetlands. The protection of these wetlands, approximately 1,600 hectares, is critical to climate change resilience as they help mitigate the impacts of flooding, store and sequester carbon and enhance biodiversity.
