As a volunteer, you can play a hands-on role in a wide range of Land Trust activities. The Land Trust relies on the support of volunteers to successfully manage our properties and plan events that raise the profile of the Land Trust, encourage donations and promote the importance of land conservation. All HHLT properties are monitored. As a property monitor, you would volunteer to walk various sections of trail and complete a checklist of your observations. You could also help walk the boundary of a property to ensure no trespassing or other prohibited activities have taken place. Or become even more involved and join a property management committee.
Volunteers can assist with event planning, set-up/take-down, event promotion, event support, etc. Events include:
- Rock our World (ROW) fundraising dance and auction
- local home show
- pop-up information expos
- educational events or presentations
- Land Trust Discovery Days events
Please visit here for a current list of upcoming events.
The Land Trust is often looking for individuals who can contribute to our organizational capacity to carry out our mission while growing the Land Trust for the future. Consider joining the board of directors and/or a committee: Property Management and Stewardship, Strategic Planning for Land Acquisition and Research, Fundraising, Communications, Education and Outreach, and Financial.
The Land Trust regularly promotes and delivers educational programming via workshops, information sessions, and presentations. Volunteers with an interest and/or background in environmental education are more than welcome to assist in and/or propose educational outreach initiatives to promote land conservation and the benefits of a healthy environment.
