Wetlands Video – new release!

This video, produced by the Ontario Land Trust Alliance (OLTA) highlights the nature-based benefits that land trusts provide.  In 2020, the Haliburton Highlands Land Trust, with funding from Environment Canada & Climate Change (Climate Action Fund) and RBC Foundation (Tech for Nature) grants, mapped and evaluated two large wetland complexes in the County of Haliburton.  Both were approved by the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources & Forestry as Provincially Significant Wetlands.  The protection of these wetlands, approximately 1,600 hectares, is critical to climate change resilience as they help mitigate the impacts of flooding, store and sequester carbon and enhance biodiversity.
