Special Announcement - Land Acquisition Opportunity!
The Haliburton Highlands Land Trust has been given an opportunity to purchase a large property within the Highlands Corridor. This undeveloped, 100-acre property (40 ha) in Highlands East contains forests, wetlands and 3.5km of natural river shoreline. It is rich in biodiversity and natural habitats and would be a great complement to our existing 5 properties.
As a supporter of HHLT, you have the opportunity to be involved in making the world a better place! The Haliburton Highlands Land Trust has set a goal to raise $75,000 to purchase this new property and we need your help!
We have set up a fundraising campaign on CanadaHelps that will run until we have met our target. Please click on the button below to make a one-time donation to the purchase of this property.
Why Donate?
Your donation will help the Haliburton Highlands Land Trust (HHLT) to carry out its mission of protecting natural heritage in Haliburton County for future generations. HHLT is a grassroots, volunteer-driven organization. There are real costs involved in protecting lands and waters in Haliburton County. We welcome donations from individuals, families, businesses, other charities and not-for-profits and corporate organizations that will help to offset expenses. Tax receipts will be issued for donations over $20.00. To issue a charitable tax receipt, the Canada Revenue Agency requires us to record your full street address.
Where do my donation dollars go?
Your donations help fund:
- Trail maintenance at Barnum Creek Nature Reserve and Dahl Forest
- Environmental assessments, legal and appraisal fees for property acquisition
- Stewardship and management costs at five properties owned, managed and protected by HHLT
- Public outreach to educate our community about HHLT conservation activities, projects and new initiatives
- Research that furthers our knowledge about species at risk and guides our property management activities and conservation planning
